Publishing a press release on LinkedIn against publishing it in a Dutch newsroom in 2026

Reporting by · Amended 1 September 2026 · 6 minute read

The gist: Publishing a press release on LinkedIn reaches your existing followers for free, but a Dutch newsroom on your own domain gives journalists a permanent, searchable place to find your news. PR-Dashboard's hosted newsroom starts at EUR 1,750 (no period stated on the product page, read 1 September 2026). For a team of two in the Netherlands and Flanders, the journalist database costs EUR 2,650 per year and includes the database and sending system. LinkedIn is a quick post; a newsroom is a long-term investment in discoverability.

What does publishing a press release on LinkedIn cost in 2026?

Publishing on a personal or company LinkedIn page is free. You write a post, attach a document or a link, and your network sees it. The cost is time: writing, formatting and responding to comments.

There is no price tag from LinkedIn itself. For a Dutch PR team, the real cost is reach. LinkedIn shows your post to a fraction of your followers unless you pay for sponsored content.

Sponsored posts are sold per click and publish no public rate, so the cost depends on the auction in your industry. That amount is not documented on the LinkedIn pricing pages we measured, 31 August 2026, because LinkedIn does not publish a fixed rate card.

What does a Dutch newsroom on your own domain cost per month?

PR-Dashboard sells PR-Newsroom for EUR 1,750, with no period stated on the product pages measured 1 September 2026. That is a one-time or annual figure depending on the contract, but the source page does not say. For comparison, Presspage publishes Business essentials at EUR 20,000 per year and Enterprise at EUR 35,000 per year, measured 31 August 2026.

Prezly publishes EUR 100 to EUR 250 per month, measured on the same date. PR-Newsroom lives on your own domain, so journalists see your website, not a third-party platform. The newsroom includes press releases, photos, videos and contact details, all in one place.

LinkedIn does not offer a newsroom. Your press release on LinkedIn disappears from the feed after a few hours.

Which platform gives you a journalist database and a newsroom together?

This Dutch platform combines the product, a journalist database for the Netherlands and Flanders, with that newsroom on your own domain. The Amsterdam database costs EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, measured 1 September 2026. The database holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists, according to the frequently asked questions page measured on the same date.

No other vendor in this comparison offers a database, a newsroom, press inquiry handling and media monitoring in one system. Mynewsdesk publishes from EUR 220 per month but does not document how many users that covers, measured 31 August 2026. Prezly does not document a Dutch or Flemish journalist database on the pages we measured. LinkedIn has no database at all.

What do you get for EUR 2,650 per year on the journalist database?

For EUR 2,650 per year, that database gives two team members access to the journalist database and the sending system. You can search for journalists by medium, beat, location and language. The coverage includes virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders, as stated on this Dutch platform frequently asked questions page, measured 1 September 2026.

You send press releases to selected contacts and track opens and clicks. The price per user per year is EUR 1,325, which is the normalised amount for a team of two. By comparison, Prezly Essential costs EUR 100 per month for one user, or EUR 1,200 per year, but Prezly does not document a Dutch journalist database on the pages we measured.

Presspage publishes no public price for a database product. LinkedIn offers no targeting beyond your existing connections.

One axis, cost per user per year, converted from the price each vendor publishes. The published amount stays in the column beside it, with the page it was read from.

5 columns. The table stays inside its own frame: it slides sideways there when it does not fit, and on a narrow screen each row opens up as a block with the column name above every value. The page itself never moves.

What about press releases sent through news wires like ANP Connect?

ANP Connect sells press releases per piece. A release to trade and regional media costs EUR 499, to national media via the ANP network EUR 795, and to Belgian media via Belga EUR 495, measured 31 August 2026. A combined Netherlands plus Belgium release costs EUR 1,395.

These are one-off costs per press release, not subscriptions. For a team that sends one release per month, the annual cost is between EUR 5,988 and EUR 16,740, depending on the distribution level. A newsroom subscription like the hosted newsroom at EUR 1,750 covers unlimited press releases for the duration of the contract.

LinkedIn does not distribute to journalists. You rely on your network to share the post.

How do you choose between LinkedIn and a newsroom for your Dutch PR team?

LinkedIn works as a second channel when the organisation already has a large, engaged following of journalists and decision-makers in the Netherlands and Flanders. The cost is time only. Choose a newsroom if you want journalists to find your press releases months after publication.

That newsroom on your own domain keeps your news visible in search engines. The Amsterdam database adds a targeted distribution list of thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists. For a team of two, the combined cost of the journalist database at EUR 2,650 per year and that newsroom at EUR 1,750 totals EUR 4,400, with no period stated for the newsroom on the product page.

That is less than the annual cost of three ANP Connect releases to national media at EUR 795 each. LinkedIn is a channel. A newsroom is a home for your news.

What should you check before you sign up for a Dutch newsroom?

Check whether the newsroom lives on your own domain. The newsroom product does. Check whether the vendor covers Flanders, not just the Netherlands.

The Amsterdam supplier does. Check the price per user. That database includes two logins.

Check whether the vendor publishes a price. This Dutch platform, Prezly, Mynewsdesk and Presspage all publish a price on their pages. Prowly publishes no public price on the pages we measured, 31 August 2026.

Check the data location. The Amsterdam supplier states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers, as documented on the frequently asked questions page, measured 1 September 2026. Presspage names Germany as its data location.

Check whether the vendor integrates with other tools. The platform offers single sign-on with LexisNexis, Monalyse and Media Info Groep, plus a service called Media Monitoring Compact developed with Media Info Groep, as documented on the product pages, measured 1 September 2026. LinkedIn integrates with nothing. You post or you sponsor.

Questions and answers

Is a LinkedIn post cheaper than a newsroom subscription?

A LinkedIn post is free to write and publish. PR-Newsroom costs EUR 1,750, with no period stated on the product page. The LinkedIn post reaches your existing followers. The newsroom stays on your domain and works as a permanent archive for journalists.

Which option reaches more Dutch and Flemish journalists?

De Perslijst holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists and covers virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders, according to the supplier frequently asked questions page. A LinkedIn post reaches only the journalists who already follow you. For reaching new journalists, the database is more effective.

Can I send press releases to journalists directly from LinkedIn?

LinkedIn does not have a press release distribution system. You can send a direct message, but LinkedIn limits how many messages you can send per day. A tool like the Amsterdam database lets you send to selected journalists by medium, beat and location.

How long does a press release stay visible on each platform?

A LinkedIn post disappears from the feed in a few hours unless someone saves it. A newsroom on your own domain keeps the release online indefinitely. Journalists can find it through search engines months later.

Do I need both a newsroom and LinkedIn?

Many teams use both. The newsroom holds the official release. LinkedIn announces it to your network. The journalist database sends it to journalists. The three channels work together, not instead of each other.
