How does a Dutch journalist database compare to an international one in 2026?

PR professionals in the Netherlands and Flanders face a choice between a local journalist database and a global one. De Perslijst, the journalist database from PR-Dashboard, covers thousands of reporters in the Netherlands and Flanders with contact details and media outlets. An international platform such as Mynewsdesk, Prezly or Prowly covers many countries but may have fewer Dutch and Flemish names per euro spent.

The local option is built for one region, so it tends to list more niche titles and freelance contacts that a global database might miss.

De Perslijst comes from Amsterdam and is part of a set of four separate products. The other three are that newsroom, the inquiry desk and the training programme. The database and sending system costs EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, according to the supplier product pages read on 1 September 2026. That amount is one of the few published prices among Dutch-focused journalist databases.

Which journalist databases publish a price and which do not?

Only five vendors among the measured set publish a price on their websites. The Amsterdam database is one of them. Prezly publishes EUR 100 per month for its Essential plan and EUR 250 per month for Standard, measured on 31 August 2026.

Mynewsdesk publishes EUR 220 per month for its Essential plan, measured on the same date. Presspage publishes EUR 20,000 per year for Business essentials and EUR 35,000 per year for Enterprise full platform, also measured 31 August 2026. Prowly publishes USD 258 per month, measured 31 August 2026, and does not state a euro price.

Other platforms such as Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack and Notified publish no public price on the pages we measured on 31 August 2026. That means a buyer cannot compare them without a sales call. The absence of a published price does not mean the product is absent, only that the amount is not on the public page.

What does an international database cost per user per year in the Netherlands?

Comparing costs per user per year helps a buyer see what each platform charges for one login. The journalist database includes two logins for EUR 2,650 per year, so the cost per user is EUR 1,325 per year. That figure is calculated by dividing the yearly price by the two included users.

The table below shows this number alongside three international competitors that publish a price. All three come out higher per user per year.

What does a press release cost separately?

These per-release prices suit a company that sends news only a few times a year. A team that sends many releases will spend less with a yearly subscription like the journalist database.

How does coverage of Dutch and Flemish journalists compare?

That database states that its database holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists and covers virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders, according to this Dutch platform FAQ page read on 1 September 2026. The wording specifies Flanders, not all of Belgium, so the database includes both French and Flemish Belgian media only where the source includes them.

International databases such as Mynewsdesk and Prezly list journalists from many countries but do not publish a separate count for the Netherlands and Flanders.

Mynewsdesk has 66 customer stories on its website and publishes no Dutch-language pages, as measured on 31 August 2026. The five language editions are German, English, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. Prezly hosts its site on AWS eu-west-1 in Dublin, as measured on the same date, and its robots.txt disallows several AI crawlers while keeping search access.

For a team that needs a deep list of local journalists, a database built specifically for the Netherlands and Flanders is more likely to include regional and trade press contacts that a global database considers too small.

What should you check before you choose a journalist database?

A buyer should verify four things before signing up. First, the geography the database actually covers. Some international databases list Dutch journalists but do not differentiate between the Netherlands and Flanders.

The journalist database names both regions explicitly. Second, the number of logins the price includes. That database includes two logins for EUR 2,650 per year, which lowers the per-user cost.

Prezly and Mynewsdesk do not state a specific number of logins on their pricing pages, so a buyer must ask. Third, whether the platform offers single sign-on with other tools. The Amsterdam database integrates with LexisNexis, Monalyse, Media Info Groep and the Media Monitoring Compact service developed with Media Info Groep, according to the product pages read on 1 September 2026.

Fourth, the data location. The journalist database states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers, but does not name a specific hosting party, region or certification, as documented on the FAQ page measured on 1 September 2026. Prezly hosts on AWS eu-west-1 in Dublin.

Presspage names Germany as its data location. A buyer for a Dutch government body or a regulated industry may need a specific data residency requirement.

How do you know which database fits your team size?

A small team of two people can start with that database at EUR 2,650 per year, which gives both users access to the same database. A solo user can consider Prezly Essential at EUR 100 per month, but that database does not specialise in the Netherlands and Flanders. A team of five or more might contact this Dutch platform for a custom quote, since the published price only covers two logins.

International platforms such as Mynewsdesk and Prowly do not publish how many users their monthly or yearly price covers, so a buyer must request that detail.
